Crafty Pint Tooting moves to The Gorringe Park Pub

Our big news this month, is a move from Tooting Tram & Social to the gorgeous Gorringe Park Pub from June.  We have had a brilliant time at the Tram and are supremely grateful for all their support.  In response to requests from lots of you for hot drinks and food, the lovely people at The Gorringe Park Pub have kindly agreed to host our summer programme in Tooting.

The Gorringe Park is a beautiful pub (as can be seen from the photos below) next to Tooting rail station and just a short walk or quick bus ride from Tooting Broadway. They serve a fab menu ranging from British tapas to yummy desserts and have lots of light, space and even a garden and a cinema. Ed and Josh have been super enthusiastic and welcoming and are very keen to make the Gorringe Park community pub with lots of events for Tooting people to enjoy.

Upcycled Jewellery Workshop 8th May

Our super popular upcycled Jewellery Workshop returns to Crafty Pint for it’s first outing in Streatham! We will be turning unloved and broken trinkets into fabulous jewellery with talented local upcycler and artist, Jeni Walker who ran our sell out workshop at last years Xmas Pint.
At this workshop, we will make earrings, a bracelet, a necklace or a brooch from our amazing collection of discarded jewels.  Silver plated earring hooks and various stringing materials will be provided as well as our stash of pre-loved jewellery, beads and findings.  You will leave the workshop having made something from nothing!  You can even bring along your own unused and broken jewellery if you want, to make something particularly personal and cool. For inspiration have a look at what everyone  made at our last upcycled jewellery workshop.

The workshops cost £20 and all materials and tutors are included.  We will provide tons of materials to choose from as well as lots of one-to-one help and demonstrations. Knit a phone case – Monday 13th May @Ben’s Canteen

Join the lovely, talented Alex and knit your own phone cover at Ben’s Canteen in Clapham.  These cute knitted cases are perfect projects for beginners, or for knitters with a bit more experience to learn new stitches.  Find out what you can do with simple variations of knit and purl stitches!  The finished items are  versatile enough to be used as phone or camera covers or anything else you need to keep snug in your bag.

First of all, pick your fave colours….
IMG_4894

Then choose one of our designs, from a simple knit stitch to more fancy rib and moss stitches.  All of these are suitable for beginners, and for more experienced knitters, we can experiment with stitches needing more skill.

IMG_4883

Then embellish with vintage buttons and pom poms!

Our tutors will demonstrate how to cast on and  the basic stitches for your phone case.  We will be on hand to help you trouble shoot any problems, and you get to knit while enjoying a glass or two of Ben’s finest wines, yummy food, and meet your crafty neighbours.  Alex is a very talented fine artist who we met during Lambeth Open Studios. When she is not painting, she loves to knit, so we are very pleased to have her join us.

These three-hour workshops costs just £20 and include tuition, examples, inspiration and lots of materials to choose from.  All materials are supplied, and knitting needles will be available to buy if you want to take them home. We go out of our way to make sure you have lots of choice so you can play and experiment with a range of materials that you may not have access to at home.  We ensure our groups don’t get to big, and always have enough tutors to provide one-to-one help as well as group demonstrations.

Please email Gillian at Crafty Pint if you want to reserve a place, or just drop in and join us on the day.
