Print a tote bag – Monday 8th October – Ben’s Canteen

September 12, 2012 at 22:29 1 comment

We are very excited at Crafty Pint to announce a lovely new venue for our evening workshops.  We will be bringing Crafty Pint to the very fabulous Ben’s Canteen, on St John’s Hill, just a hop and skip up the road from Clapham Junction.  Ben is a big fan of Etsy and all things handmade, reflected in the decor of his very lovely cafe-bar serving delicious coffee, yummy food, and a decadent range of gin! You can also spy vintage finds from our local emporium of  cool collectables – Colporter. When we visited, we sampled the ginger beer which was very fine, and enjoyed sipping our drinks to a pretty good sound track as well.

At our first evening workshop, you can design and print your own canvas tote bag.  We will provide all the materials, including pure canvas tote bags, fabric inks in all sorts of wonderful colours and for inspiration, our collection of print and textile design books.  With our tuition and top tips you will design and cut your own printing block and then print up a tote bag, all handmade by you at Ben’s Canteen!  You can see examples of the things we make at our printing workshops in our albums here and here.

This workshop is suitable for beginners, no experience is needed. All inks are washable and non-toxic, but do bring a pinny in case of inky stains.  The inks are fixed by ironing, so your finished tote bag can be used and washed. That’s if  you don’t plan to frame your work of art! We even have a little film of one of our printing workshops to whet your appetite…

This three-hour workshop costs just £15 and includes all materials.  Please email Gillian at Crafty Pint if you want to reserve a place, or you can pay in advance using Paypal.
