Summer and autumn workshops

We at Crafty Pint have been bowled over by the enthusiasm for our first four workshops.  We have loved seeing the bracelets, brooches, books and mosaics that have been made so far, and we can’t wait to see what will come next!

We’ve got four more fabulous workshops planned to take us through the summer and autumn, which we think you’ll really enjoy!
As ever, all our workshops are on the first Saturday of the month, from 2pm – 5pm at the marvellous Tram and Social on Mitcham Road in Tooting SW17.

August 6th – Fused Glass Taster
The lovely Sally Dunnett is joining us to run the August workshop.  Her new website is under construction, but you can see some of her amazing work here.
Sally will talk you through what happens inside the kiln when glass is fused, and show you the effects that can be achieved by stacking different materials and colours.  You then assemble your own tile which will be taken away and fired, ready for you to collect the next day.

September 3rd – Sugarcraft Cupcake Toppers
Claire, of Claire’s Handmade Cakes fame is coming along on September to run our first edible workshop!  Claire has been baking all her life, but got the icing bug when she started making birthday cakes for her nieces and nephews, prompting her to set up her own business.
At this workshop, Claire will teach you to make mini handbags, including a fetching leopard print number, and shoes using sugarpaste, as well as learning all about the materials and basic modelling skills.  At the end of the workshop you’ll come away with decorated cupcakes, and a taste (boom boom!) for more!

October 1st – Pottery Painting
Talented local artist, Caragh Buxton, will be bringing her mobile pottery painting workshop to the Tram for our October workshop.
Caragh will guide you through the creative process, demonstrating various painting ideas to you, and letting you paint your own personalised pieces which she will then take to her studio to glaze and fire your pieces ready for you to collect a week later back at the Tram.  This is a workshop that appeals to children.  You can even take baby hand / foot prints to make a fabulous memento!
As ever, this workshop is £15 to include tuition, materials, and firing of your project, but if you want to make additional pieces, there will be an additional charge.  Caragh can let you know on the day what this will be.

November 5th – Upcycled Jewellery

Remember remember the 5th of November, when talented Jeni Walker from The Daisy Bug Co will be coming along to share her passion for making all things from waste, and all waste into things!
At this workshop, we will make earrings, a bracelet, a necklace or a brooch.  Silver plated earring hooks and various stringing materials will be provided as well as Jeni’s stash of pre-loved jewellery, beads and findings.  You will leave the workshop having made something from nothing!  You can even bring along your own failed jewellery if you want, to make something particularly personal.

This might be a bit random but do you guys need any jewellery for the last class? I have a HUGE tub of jewellery given to me by a friend to do something with and I just never have – I’m happy to donate. Email me dianneohdeer (at) gmail dot com and i’ll send it over.
