Handmade in Tooting presents a Crafty Pint!

February 17, 2011 at 16:37 3 comments

Welcome to Handmade in Tooting where we will be championing all things handmade in, well, in Tooting!

Our first event will be a Crafty Pint, craft afternoons on the first Saturday of the month at the Tooting Tram and Social from 2pm to 5pm.

Each month we will invite a local designer-maker to run a workshop.  All materials are provided and no previous experience is needed.

The three-hour workshops cost just £15 and will range each month from jewellery, textiles, and bookmaking to mosaic, ceramics and fused glass.

You will learn a new skill, enjoy a drink and homemade cakes in the wonderful surroundings of the Tram & Social and come home with something fabulous, all handmade by you in Tooting!

The workshops are bookable in advance, which helps us make sure we have backed enough cakes, but you can also just turn up on the day as well.

June Crafty Pint – Make a handmade book with Amelia from 101 Birdtales

Local artist and book maker Amelia Critchlow will work with you to make your very own handmade and bound book. Spend an afternoon assembling a hand-stitched paper book with cover. Once our little book is made we can spend the rest of the afternoon filling it with doodles, drawings, collage, letterstamps and more, to create a personal book reflecting a theme of your choice.  All materials are provided, but you can bring your own photos, fabric, paper and collage bits yourself to add a personal touch or simply play with the materials available and see the magic emerge!

You will learn basic measuring, stitching and book assembling techniques and then have fun finding ways to fill the pages with chosen embellishments (all provided on the day). There will be full guidance at every stage, with handmade book examples to view. Beginners and others of all levels are welcome!  Your finished book can then be used as a journal, photo album, notebook or a personalised gift for a special person.

    This looks fab.
Is there an age range for those that can attend the workshops?
